Everyone wants to feel attractive and look beautiful. To achieve this, most people strive to have perfect facial features with the best proportions of balance, symmetry, clarity, and harmony. Face contouring is a cosmetic surgical procedure designed to help patients improve the stability of facial features by adjusting different areas of the face. These areas include the forehead, cheekbones, nose, and chin. In addition to physical and structural facial corrections, patients can also use surgical techniques to beautify the eyes and lips with a youthful glow.

Face contouring is the reshaping of the face through minimally invasive treatments that can redefine the contours of the face and shape certain areas such as cheekbones, forehead, or jawline, thanks to particular substances. It is very effective for rejuvenating globally.

Face contouring in Turkey is an excellent treatment for both men and women. For face contouring, our surgeon can try many different combinations. For example, various techniques such as hyaluronic acid, botulinum toxin, and peeling harmonize the face areas most affected by aging. Together with our face contouring procedure in Turkey, we can restore your face’s oval tone and volume. This global approach to rejuvenation uses advanced next-generation fillers that can interact with tissues and activate their deep stimulation through the production of elastic fibers and collagen for a long-lasting effect. For this reason, they aren’t just inert fillers but fillers that can revitalize the face from the inside.

For facial interventions, our surgeons carefully examine your facial proportions. Each face is divided equally by vertical lines that divide the face from left to right into five distinct parts. Our doctor will then divide your face into different areas:

  • Upper face: The upper part of the face starts from the hairline to the eyebrows. The ratio is about 1/3 of the face.
  • Central face: The middle part of the face starts from the eyebrows to the tip of the nose. The ratio is about 1/3 of the face.
  • Lower face: This section starts from the tip of the nose to the chin and makes up the remaining 1/3 of the face.

In addition to cheekbones, chin, and forehead areas, skin tone generally is the site that surgeons can treat, thanks to biostimulants of different structures. Over time, the skin tends to lose its volume and elasticity. This causes fine wrinkles or deep grooves to form on the face.

Also, as we age, the cheekbones, an essential element for the harmony of the face, tend to empty, giving the face a tired and aged appearance. In contrast, the mandible line, necessary for balancing the nose projection and adapting to the front, tends to lose definition. Thanks to this procedure, it is possible to eliminate these defects, reshape the volumes and restore the swelling in the skin, and a general and global rejuvenation.

Before performing this treatment, you must undergo a thorough examination so our plastic surgeon can analyze various aspects such as relaxation of your facial muscles, skin tone, depth of wrinkles, and definition of face contour. However, with this evaluation, it can be understood whether there is a treatment indication and which procedures should combine.

This shaping operation is a surgical strategy that combines different techniques of plastic surgery, cosmetic surgery, and reconstructive surgery. Experts created this strategic combination to reconstruct the body’s contours in an overall view. The aesthetic surgeon evaluated the uneven distribution of fat in the region, the degree of looseness of the tissues, excess skin, and skin ptosis presented by the patient. This multi-technical surgical approach uses different methods aimed at resolving multiple defects.

What is Face Contouring?

Face contouring is a very effective process. The face is one of the first things noticed in social interactions. Unfortunately, it’s also one of the first areas to show signs of aging and can delay an image that doesn’t match up with what we’re feeling. In fact, over the years, facial skin deteriorates due to the force of gravity, exposure to the sun, and many other environmental factors, as well as the stress of daily life. Deep grooves, wrinkles, and sagging skin can occur, which can give a sad and tired look, which is definitely not the image we want to share.

Face contouring is a very effective procedure that you can choose for face rejuvenation, regaining the lost form and an aesthetic appearance.

Who are Ideal Candidates for Face Contouring?

Ideal candidates for face contouring in Turkey are all healthy men and women with face problems. However, with the advancement of surgical techniques and the improvement of methods, this approach is also used in less severe frames, i.e., where redistribution of facial volumes is required, definition by filling and modeling.

Face contouring can use for all healthy people who want to improve their appearance and contours in some regions of the face area. The primary purpose of this procedure in women is to make the facial features much more aesthetic and feminine.

Meanwhile, for male patients, the procedure aims to give a much sharper image and a more masculine appearance. Therefore, the process can also typically be part of gender reassignment procedures. The course is also very beneficial for you if you suffer from complete sagging of your facial skin, which often causes your face to lose much of its original contour due to aging.

What are the Risks of Face Contouring?

Since the face is swollen for the first few days after face contouring, it will be a little difficult for you to cope with, and the surgery symptoms are apparent.

  • Hematomas: This is the most common complication of face contouring. They’re usually small and disappear within a week. Sometimes they can take a little longer. These blood collections should be aspirated, especially if they’re significant. A prevalent cause of hematoma is increased blood pressure after surgery. Hypertensive patients are therefore more prone to hematoma formation.
  • Skin necrosis: This side effect is relatively rare and may occur due to excessive pulling of the stretched flap or the formation of large bruises. In addition, smoking dramatically increases the incidence of skin necrosis.
  • Infections: They’re rare and usually easy to treat with drainage and joint antibiotic therapy. If not treated properly, they can lead to tissue loss and consequently poor quality scarring. Symptoms of an infection include pain, skin redness, and swelling, with or without fever.
  • Wound reopening: Spontaneous wound reopening (separation) is more common in diabetic patients and smokers. It usually heals spontaneously with medications; it rarely requires a new suture.
  • Nerve injuries: Doctors may unintentionally damage a nerve branch during face contouring. Fortunately, however, this is a rare complication. Also, over time, its functionality usually recovers entirely or partially.
  • Scars: Face contouring can inevitably leave permanent and irreversible imperfections like all surgical scars. However, you should note that in this type of surgery, the wounds hid in places where it is difficult to see them even at close range. Some patients may develop red or raised scars. This is why enlarged scars that last several months, are permanent (hypertrophic or keloid scars), or are typically colored can be very noticeable. This is a rare but unpredictable condition favored by smoking and sun exposure. After an unsuitable period (6-12 months after surgery), the surgeon can correct poor quality and unpleasant scars with medical treatment or surgery.

For other potential complications of the face contouring procedure, follow:

  • Swelling
  • Formation of bruises
  • Bleeding
  • Surgical wounds or infections caused by certain substances
  • Slow or poor healing
  • Pain (use pain drugs or cold packs)
  • Numbness may occur in or around your wound area. This problem usually resolves within a few weeks, but for some, it may take several months.
  • Nerve damage
  • Facial asymmetry
  • Operation failure
  • Tissue necrosis

Our experienced cosmetic surgeon will take care to answer any questions you may have before and after face contouring.

Final

Face contouring in Turkey can take 2 to 3 hours, depending on how much operation our surgeon performs on your face. In this process, you will stay in our hospital for one day, and we will place you in your hotel the day after the procedure. In most cases, you will fully recover from the process within a few days. Most of the swelling on your face will go away after a month. However, it may take up to 1 year to see the full effect after the procedure.

How is the Recovery After Face Contouring?

At the end of the face contouring, the doctor may place drains that will remove a day or two later. The doctor will likely put on a compression dressing to properly treat and reduce postoperative swelling. During your hospital stay, the doctor will change the first dressing on the first day in the end:

  • Our surgeon changes the dressing 48-72 hours after the face contouring and checks your wounds. From this moment, you will be able to wash your hair gently and, as a rule, bandages will no longer require.
  • Pain after the face contouring isn’t severe and can usually control with standard analgesics. You should avoid using drugs containing acetylsalicylic acid, which can cause bleeding and bruising for several weeks.
  • We recommend a liquid diet with soft foods in the immediate postoperative period and the first days afterward. From the second day after face contouring, it is possible to follow an unrestricted diet, preferably rich in proteins (meat, milk, eggs) and vitamins (fruit), possibly supplemented with collagen supplements.
  • Your stitches are dissovable. However, the scars may take several weeks to become fully stable. In the meantime, you can use some simple cosmetic concealers to cover them up.
  • We recommend that you stay relaxed for the first 2-4 days after the surgery and sleep on your back with two or three pillows under your head to limit swelling. Face cold packs can help provide a cooling sensation and reduce pain and swelling.
  • We recommend minimizing rotation, extension, and sudden head movements during the first ten days after the surgery. We recommend that men be prudent when shaving if it involves areas affected by surgical incisions.
  • You can wash your face gently with a sponge, avoiding traumatizing the surgical suture lines.
  • You should not smoke for at least three weeks after the face contouring.
  • The postoperative period is usually not painful. There may be some pain, but this manages with common analgesic drugs. Often, the pain coincides with the feeling of tightness of the skin that you gradually get used to until, after a few weeks, you no longer feel it. You will also experience a slight reduction in tactile pain sensitivity, mainly corresponding to surgical scars.
  • Swelling (edema) on your face after face contouring is quite normal. This situation, which changes the facial features from time to time, should not be a cause for alarm for the patient. Edema subsides rapidly in the first few days and then goes away completely in about a month. Swelling in some regions of the face, such as cheekbones, tends to decrease more slowly than in other areas.
  • We recommend that you strictly follow the doctor’s prescriptions and consult the surgeon for any possible discomfort or explanation. An almost absolute rest phase require for the first week after surgery. As with sexual activity (within reasonable limits), the surgeon may allow driving after one week. The resumption of your usual social relationships ranges from a few days (if only one area involve) to two weeks, depending on the type of intervention.
  • We don’t recommend doing sports or exercising during this time. However, if you can do this, you can go for walks and do non-strenuous social activities. You can use hair dyes only after three weeks.

What will you see Face Contouring Results?

You will really notice the results of face contouring in Turkey just two or three weeks after the surgery when the swelling and bruises have disappeared. In general, you are satisfied with the results obtained, and if the surgery do correctly, the scars become almost invisible.

Unfortunately, despite the excellent results you can achieve with face contouring, it is impossible to stop progressive skin aging even after surgery. Therefore, the use of secondary face contouring isn’t unusual. On the contrary, in many cases, it may be necessary to avoid an unnatural effect where some areas of the face are less relaxed than others.

In addition, the duration of a face contouring procedure results highly depends on the type of intervention performed (more or less extensive and more or less deep stretching) and the patient’s lifestyle habits. Smoking, excessive and uncontrolled sun exposure, and unbalanced nutrition are the factors that negatively affect the skin’s beauty and accelerate its physiological aging.
